Montreuil, Guy Roger

Montreuil, Guy Roger

With heavy hearts and cherished memories we are saddened to announce the passing of our much beloved husband, father and coach, Guy Montreuil.

On December 3rd at 11:11pm, while being held by his loving family, Guy answered the call to cross the threshold of life and enter into eternal light.

Guy is survived by Diane, his dancing partner and bride of 25 years, his sons Steve (Shari), Christopher (Megan), Matthew (Alena), and daughter Emma, brothers Mitch (Lyn), André (Shelley), sister Janet (Robert), and granddaughter Emma. Born in Lachine, Quebec, Guy was predeceased by parents Rodolph and Shirley (Smail) and granddaughter Mia.

Guys love for carpentry and passion for baseball led him to touch so many lives. With his hard work, humour and humility, he was always quick to lend a helping hand. Guy will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting him.

A bilingual funeral service will be held at Église Immaculée-Conception, located at 99 Garnet Street, St.Catharines at 11:00am Saturday, December 7th, preceded by visitation at 10:30am.

A luncheon of life will follow at 1:00pm at Guy’s second home, the Grantham Optimist Club, where he proudly coached for 18 years and had been a member for 11 years. The club is located at 188 Linwell Road, St.Catharines.

In lieu of flowers, the family will have a donation box available at the luncheon, for a memorial gift to be made in Guys honour. All donations collected will ensure local children the ability to enjoy the sport he loved.

“It’s okay Coach Guy, we will take it from here.”

I really liked Guy and will miss him. Hope he gets ample opportunity to play Peter Gabrielle music in Heaven. Everyone there will love it.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Guy’s passing. Once many years ago he and a very pregnant Diane drove all the way from St. Catharines to Guelph just to help me move when I was in a pinch. He did it without a thought. That was just like him, to help anyone in need. He was kind and warm with a great sense of humour and always with a twinkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed.

Justin was very blessed to have Guy generously give his time to help coach him for baseball select. He took the time to give him valuable advice but also was so kind and patient. My son lost his father, my husband, a few years back and Guy’s kindness and understanding for his situation helped influence Justin being a male role model. Our thoughts are with your family. We thank Coach Guy for the time Justin was able to spend with him.
