Cassandra Wanda Filipowski

FILIPOWSKI: Cassandra Wanda – March 12, 1928- March 22, 2018

Passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 90. Loving mother of Walter. Dear sister of Ted (Ruth) Pyrce of Cheektowaga, Buffalo, Janet Gojmecac of Alberta and Alice Stempien of Welland. Cassie was predeceased by her husband Walter (1997), daughter Anne and her parents Anna and John Pyrce. Also predeceased by brothers John, Richard, Leonard and her nephew Jim. Cassie was a registered nurse graduating from The Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked for many years at the old and new Welland County Hospital. She was the first president of St. Peter’s and Paul Church Seniors Club, and founding member of Welland’s Rose City Seniors Club. She will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. As per Cassie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service for Cassie will be held Thursday March 29 at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery at 1:00p.m. If desired, donations to the Welland County Hospital or St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by her family. Also, a special “thanks” to CCAC, the nurses with St. Elizabeth, Care Partners and Paramed for the loving care you have shown to Cassie and her family while she was in their care.

Deepest sympathy to Walter and all the family for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. Lots of fond memories from O’Bireck family gatherings over the years. May Cassie rest in peace.
