Andrena Dorothy Carr of St. Catharines, Ontario, passed away March 1, 2017 at the age of 97. Rena was born October 2, 1919 in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Manderson) Anderson.  Rena was one of 10 children. Rena grew up in the city of Toronto, and met the love of her life, Charlie, while vacationing with her family in Picton, Ontario. They were married in Toronto, September 18, 1943, and remained happily married to her “Loverboy” until his death on May 2, 2012. As a young girl, Rena enjoyed baking with her sisters, fishing with her brothers, and singing on the CBC Radio Network morning show.  She studied business in high school and worked at Canada Packers and DeHavilland Aircraft in the business offices.  She remained in Toronto until 1952, when they relocated to Niagara Falls, NY with their first child.  Rena then worked at Carborundum as a ENIAC “Giant Brain” computer clerk until the birth of her second child.  Rena was very active in her church community and Girl Scouts.  In 1974 Rena and Charlie and their third child returned to Toronto where she was very active in the Humber Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and worked as receptionist at Central Park Lodge in Weston, Ontario.  Rena and Charlie moved to St. Catharines in 1986, where she remained until her death. Rena is survived by her three children, Dianne (Duane) Schultz, of Wilson, NY, Charlie (Charlene) Carr, of Ellicottville, NY, and Donna (John) Cook Misner, of Issaquah, WA, nine grandchildren, Daniel (Bethany) Schultz, Darla (Michael) Bubar, Dana (Kevin) Smith, Deann (James) Gootee, Charles “CJ” Carr, Christopher Carr, John Cook, Dylan Cook, and Samantha Cook, and seven great grandchildren, Alexandra Bubar, Michael Bubar, Madelaine Schultz, Marisa Schultz, Mason Schultz, Cole Smith and Carly Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Rena is predeceased by all of her siblings, Robert Anderson, Isabel Webb, Jean Christie, James Anderson, Caroline Fletcher, John Anderson, Margaret Hunt, Elizabeth Lindsay, and Norman Anderson.  Loving wife, beloved Mum, Grandma and Nana, singer, storyteller, math whiz, expert speller (“Constantinople”), and general mischief maker, she will be remembered by all who knew her. “You’ll find it worthwhile –  if you roll out of bed with a smile” Rena was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, in St. Catharines, Ontario where a service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11:00AM. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in memory of Rena may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Friends of Linhaven or the charity of your choice.“His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”

    Dear Donna, Charlie, Diane and family,
    I am so sorry for your loss. Your mum was a one in a million person! She was like a second mom to me when we were growing up! She always had a smile on her face and a song on her lips. Such fond memories.
